I think it's bout time that bloggers and other social media influencers stand up for themselves and their peers. There's always so much negativity when it comes to bloggers. I also think for maybe someone who writes a blog as a hobbie, they don't actually know what goes into running a self-made business. I am not one for controversee, in fact that's actually the last thing I am but there's so much I'd like to say.

I've kind of had enough with being embarrassed to tell people I'm a blogger because a lot of people just don't get it, so I want this post to enlighten that geographic. There are so many professionals, such as journalists in the 'traditional media' that don't like the fact that social media influencers exist but this is the NEW era and I totally understand that it could all easily change but for right now, it works. It's a self-taught, boundary-less system and I feel like there's a lot of underline jealousy roaming around traditional media because they don't like this.

It's a true and honest creative platform but just because someone has a post with 'AD' in it or has a sponsorship declaration at the end of the post doesn't mean anything. Bloggers, Youtubers and other influencers are only ever going to take on work that is relevant to their brand. You can't fake a personality because it definitely shines through and this is what is so beautiful about it.. It's real.

It's an amazing achievement to myself that I've done this. Yes, I do think it's crazy that you can potentially make a living out of something you love so much. Also, I do think its very highly expected for people to ask questions or ridicule when you do anything that is outside the 'traditional spectrum'.

Yes we do get paid, just like a model does to have photoshoots. Yes, we haven't studied years at a university (which many people don't even use) I think that's why it's so much more amazing because it's ALL SELF TAUGHT. If you reduce it down to that then, why are we different to a model being paid to model or a journalist being paid to write an article? It is of course legitimate work and I work 7 days a week blogging, as well as my other job (which is part time) creating content for this platform and my other social media platforms - so yes, getting paid to me is very legitimate.

(Most) influencers will only work with brands they truly believe in, or if there is a message or campaign they'd love for you to hear about and like I said earlier in this post, you can't fake a personality when you have a very public achieve that people can look back on, if someone doesn't wear make-up, then why are they collaborating with a make-up brand? People DO clock on to these things and THEY WILL. I can talk for myself when I say this, influencers will turn down opportunities that don't fit in with their brand. It's so exciting working with an established brand and I hope after reading this, you understand and are happy that these things happen. I'm also sure that you'd rather watch a 30-second RELEVANT sponsored message than a irrelevant sponsored message that Google puts up about car insurance or PPI. It's also important to notice how many sponsored posts an influencer actually does, compared to what isn't sponsored. You've all probably heard about the 'millions and billions of pounds' that bloggers earn and I personally don't like to talk about my earnings, it's not a secret but I just don't.

Just try and be happy if an influencer is excited about working on a campaign with their favourite brand because I'm sure you'd be just as excited if it was you! I can tell you now, what amazing feeling you get when a brand contacts you and tells you how much they love your content and that they want to work with you and of course, you'd want to share it with as many people as you can. Obviously I'm going to be totally honest, there are people that take the piss and I don't want to be in the same category as I work so hard to make this all work and I can't tell you how eternally grateful I am.

Nobody knows where any of this is going but for now, it's amazing. I hope this gave you a bit of an insight. We've made something off our own backs and that deserves respect, if you ask me.

My days have recently become fairly hectic, even most Saturdays have ran away from me these few past months! But I have a morning rule.. they're mine to enjoy, I see it as a chill out session before I DIVE into the days work.

My 8 Steps Before The Dive:
1. Wake up after snoozing my 6:30 alarm for the 823893th time.
2. Throw on my COMFIEST pyjama bottoms and grab my lifetime devoted friend (my iPhone?)
3. Head to the kitchen and grab a juice or a caffeinated cuppa'!
4. Prepare a simple (but tasty) breakfast that made getting out of bed that lil' bit easier
5. Spend a good 20-25 minutes of repetitive scrolling through my Twitter feed
6. Start feeling more awake (finally!)
7. Fall into that dark hole of binging on gender reveal videos (we all do it)
8. Realise my time is up, and the day must commence!

I think it's so important to have a routine because it kind of puts your life into perspective and gets your body into a routine, I know so many people my age who literally have such a weirdly functioning body clock - I've recently been trying to sleep at a reasonable time and keep that time to the same kind of time every night, meaning that I'll wake up at around the same time as well. Before getting myself into a routine, I literally use to be so tired before midday had even came round and this made me feel drained and I use to think it was down to not eating well enough, and in fact it was just to not having a healthy sleeping routine as my body didn't even know what to expect.. That's how I see it anyway. Getting yourself into the 'working' mood is also a big requirement for our day and who the hell can do that on a rubbish nights sleep?

I've also found it so interesting to whack' on the Sleep Cycle app on my phone, before I get myself into bed, it analyses your sleep pattern, which I've found to be so interesting (it also makes you keep off your phone, so it makes you fall asleep even easier.. no distractions!) - you should check it out!

It seems like one of the things we forget about throughout our busy lives is looking after ourselves. Pamper nights have always been something that I have to fit in within my busy week - it kind of gives me that time for me (which I believe we all need). Although, its one of those things that are so easy to forget, especially with our busy lives - we get home and just want to get the cuppa on and get in bed and that's fine but I recommend everyone to pamper yourself once a week, this is the time where you can properly de-stress and relax.

I've recently been introduced to the 3-blade shaver from Panasonic, which has made my pamper routine such a pleasant experience. The multi-flex 3D head makes it a quicker shave and obviously all men have to shave, it's also a fact that no men like shaving but since I've been using the shaver from Panasonic, it's made it so much easier for me! It's perfect for getting that close shave that every man dreams of. It has a multi flex 3D head that allows you to get in all those areas of your face that is normally such a struggle.
I recently discovered charcoal nose strips and they have been a big part of my pamper routine, one of the main reasons that is for the satisfying peel off at the end! But no in all seriousness, you'd be surprised by what your skin picks up after a day of errands and this is why a deep cleanse is so important!

As much as there are many important steps to a successful pamper routine, it's also beneficial to make it unique to you but this also comes with knowing what your skin needs. The Bioré Charcoal Pore Strips work like a magnet! They instantly lock onto your skin and draw out deep-down dirt & oil that can cause blackheads (which nobody wants!). They are infused with natural charcoal, these innovative pore strips draw out excess oil for the deepest clean. In just 10 minutes, you'll remove weeks' worth of build-up and see 3x less oil. With natural charcoal, known for its ability to draw out and trap deep-down impurities (which is definitely what we DO want!). Removing the nose strip has to be one of my favourite things about this product, there's something so soothing about peeling something off your skin, (and nobody has to be embarrassed to admit that we all put clumps and clumps of PVA on our hands as a child and let it dry so we could peel it off aha!) it comes off so easy!

My 5 steps to pampering yourself:

  1. Run yourself a bath - this is an essential for relaxation! Throw your favourite Lush bath bombs in, grab yourself a drink, start streaming your favourite Netflix series and have some time for yourself!
  2. Skin care is amazing for making you feel silky soft and comfortable with your own skin. I recently did a post on my favourite men's moisturiser which you may find handy. Face masks are also a huge favourite amongst pamper queens and is also a quick way to giving you a silky facial.
  3. Fresh bed sheets - is there ANYTHING better than that? I can't think of nothing.. There's nothing better than fresh PJ's alongside fresh crispy sheets - it's a MUST.
  4. Shaving is something any man hates doing but also every man HAS to do. The 3-blade shaver from Panasonic has been such a pleasant piece of equipment in my routine and have made shaving something to look forward to!
  5. It's finally time to sleep - you should now be feeling relaxed and at level with yourself, this means that you should have a better nights sleep (I always do after following these steps!)

I hope you found this post beneficial - it's nice to take time out yourself and you deserve it!
